While some of the runners will be tackling this iconic marathon for the first time, others have completed it 13 times before.
This year's Comrades Marathon, the 90th, will be a 'down run', from Pietermaritzburg's City Hall to Durban's Sahara Kingsmead Cricket Stadium, a distance of 89km. The runners will encounter five major hills which are popularly known as 'the Big Five' - Polly Shortts, Inchanga, Botha's Hill, Fields Hill and Cowie's Hill.
The Knysna Marathon Club runners who will tackle the Comrades are Herman Botha (who has completed 13 Comrades marathons), Martin Britz (13), Leon Brown (9), Marianne Brown (0), Danie Brown (6), Sharon Brown (6), Peter Brown (1), Ad Cole (8), Andy Cox (5), Joan Cuthbert (2), Sebenzile Dayimani (0), Lisl Grobler (8), Greg Hawley (0), Emma Mangali (3), Marlon Mortlock (3), James Ngxale (0), Alfred Nise (11), Margi O'Connor (2), Svelka Sharp (4), Jeffrey Willcocks (8) and Christo Zaayman (0).
