MOSSEL BAY NEWS - A 27-year old man made his first appearance in the Mossel Bay Magistrate's Court today on a charge of rape.
This after he allegedly raped a woman in a Covid-19 self-isolation facility in Mossel Bay.
Police say the 20-year-old victim was staying in the one-bedroom facility when she was overpowered by the suspect this weekend.
The suspect worked as a cleaner at the facility.
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila says the case has been postponed to 21 September for a formal bail application. He says they will oppose bail.
The suspect remains in custody.
