Maqubela granted leave to appeal murder conviction

NATIONAL NEWS - The Western Cape High Court has granted Thandi Maqubela leave to appeal her murder conviction.

The woman dubbed the 'black widow' was found guilty of killing her husband, acting Judge Patrick Maqubela in 2013, although there was no conclusive medical evidence to pinpoint the cause of death.

She was also found guilty of forging his will and fraudulently presenting the document to the master of the High Court.

Maqubela is currently serving an effective 18 year prison sentence for murder, forgery and fraud.

On Friday, Judge John Murphy gave her permission to appeal her murder conviction.
