NATIONAL NEWS - The City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Service has raised concern over more attacks on emergency response vehicles.
A water tanker was stoned in Nyanga in one of many attacks on Monday.
Fire and Rescue's Theo Layne says such attacks have a direct impact on their ability to provide efficient and effective services.
“Staff members were not injured, but they are traumatised. This is the fourth incident that happened during the day. Three other vehicles were also stoned while responding to emergency incidents.”
In the past, there were also attacks on paramedics.
Since 2012, more than 200 attacks on EMS staff members have been reported.
