GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - The South African Weather Service has issued a Yellow Level 2 warning for damaging waves along parts of the Western Cape and Namaqua coastline, valid from 01:00 on Sunday, 1 June until 12:59 on Monday, 2 June.
Forecast Conditions:
Heavy westerly to south-westerly swells with wave heights of 4.0 to 4.5 meters are expected between Saldanha Bay and Plettenberg Bay on Sunday, extending from Cape Point to Plettenberg Bay on Monday.
Potential Impacts:
Disruption of small harbours and ports.
Possible damage to coastal infrastructure.
Dangerous sea conditions for vessels.
Disruption to beachfront activities.
Risk of the public being swept off rocks due to large waves.
Public Advisory:
Beachgoers, fishermen, and coastal communities are advised to exercise extreme caution, avoid rocky coastal areas, and monitor updates from SAWS.
