RHEENENDAL NEWS - In honour of Mandela Day, the team at Personal Trust (Eden branch) spent more than the symbolic 67 minutes on 15 July, a few days ahead of the official date, giving back to the local community at the Rheenendal Recycling Swop Shop.
Staff rolled up their sleeves to help pack and distribute goods to residents.
"We believe Mandela Day is about more than giving - it's about restoring dignity, spreading hope, and building connections.
"We're proud to be part of a network working together to make a difference. We're even planning to make this a monthly initiative," said Juanita Bester of Personal Trust.
The effort was supported by sponsorships from local organisations and clubs, including the Knysna, George, Leisure Isle, Sedgefield and Plettenberg Bay bowling clubs, Piet's Picnic Group, and the Knysna Log-Inn Hotel.
Quoting the late Nelson Mandela, Bester added, "What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others."
