PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Locals and visitors yearning for adventure are in for a treat as the annual Paws Amazing Race is back again.
Organisers said the challenge is set to be a fun community event where participants get the opportunity to dress up, give themselves a quirky team name; test their general knowledge and problem-solving skills and 'race' against their competition.
The event is hosted to raise much-needed funds for the Plett Animal Welfare Society (Paws). The event has become a firm favourite among adventure seekers over the past three years and will once again take place on 1 May.
Organisers said the race was not about speed or physical endurance. "There is nothing extreme in the event. It is about your team's ability to think on their feet and work together.
"The teams move in cars around the town solving clues and carrying out fun activities."
The ideal team would consist of four members as each team would need a driver, navigator, spotter and someone able to find answers on various platforms.
There will however be a minimum team size of two members.
If the adventure and adrenaline rush is not enough, there will be a prize-giving at the end of the race where the winning team will be crowned Top Dog/Cat 2023. The winning team will be the team that scores the highest number of points by answering the clues correctly and finishing in the shortest time.
The fun will start at the Market Square Shopping Centre at 09:00 and will continue until 15:00. Entries can be done online or at Barney's Kiosk at the shopping centre. For more information, contact John Gawler via email at paws.amazingrace2023@gmail.com or on 076 285 8783.
