PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - A Plettenberg Bay Regional Court Magistrate has again postponed the hearing of a 39-year-old alleged sexual offender who was arrested in May last year.
The man, from the Plettenberg Bay area, faces 14 charges, including grooming, sexual assault and statutory rape.
He first appeared in court on 22 May 2023 and in July he was refused bail because he could not provide exceptional circumstances to be released on bail on the Schedule 6 charges he faces.
This past Monday, 12 February, Regional Court Magistrate Preggy Govender postponed the hearing to 14 March
State advocate Johannes Marx applied for the postponement because the state was still awaiting further additions to the docket. The accused remains in custody.
Carl Jeppe, for the accused, agreed to the postponement saying it would give him a chance to study the docket once completed and consult with his client.
