KNYSNA NEWS - Early on Sunday morning, July 9, eager paddlers gathered at the Knysna Yacht Club to participate in the Harbour2Heads Lagoon Challenge, a marathon style canoe event on the beautiful Knysna Lagoon Estuary.
The second day of the Momentum Knysna Cycle Tour hosted the road races. The longest distance was the challenging 115 km road race followed the route introduced three years ago, which was designed for enthusiastic, competitive roadies.
It took cyclists from Knysna to Sedgefield, Karatara and Barrington, and back to Knysna.
While the racing snakes fought it out on the tar the festival grounds were a hive of activity as the Spur Rotary Knysna Children’s Cycle Tour kept the aspiring future cycling stars busy in their fun races.The Hornlee Hotel Pool Competition took place at Hornlee Nite Spot. This single elimination pool tournament saw the best pool players in Knysna compete for the glory of being the last man standing.
The second event in the Maserati BIG5 Challenge was the Featherbed Knysna Dragons Lagoon Mile swim. The 1,65km open-water swim got competitors into the chilly water as they continued with their race campaigns to become overall champions.

The Knysna Wine Festival is the premiere showcase for local wines at the Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival held annually in Knysna. It has a proven track record of 11 years, and is associated with quality South African wines.
“We originally wanted to launch an exclusive Wine Festival in the Garden Route. One which would allow guest to interact with high profile vintners while tasting their wines,” explained Belinda. As a result, the Knysna Wine Festival was born and it joined the successful Pick n Pay Knysna Oyster Festival in 2005. The now long-standing Knysna Wine Festival is the premiere social event of the Knysna Oyster Festival.
19:00 Hornlee Oyster Fashion Show and Talent Show
This is a red-carpet event with a fashion show, cheese and wine and a showcase of local designers. The talent show will provide entertainment by locals for everyone.
The Pick n Pay Young Oyster Festival presented by Humpty Dumpty has a variety of activities to keep the kiddies entertained for the duration of the Festival and are situated in the festival grounds.
