PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - About 120 Numsa members marched on the Bitou municipality offices today to protest the alleged employment practices and non-payment of salaries by local security company Isolomzi.
Thabo Mbebe, Numsa regional secretary, handed over a 1 000-signature petition to Bitou municipal manager Mbulelo Memani, highlighting the grievances of workers.
Isolomzi Security is contracted to provide Bitou with security personnel.
Memani said the municipality will respond to the petition well ahead of the standard 21-day timeline and acknowledged the urgency of the matter.
Unlike previously, when the municipality met with Isolomzi without Numsa's involvement, "all parties who are part of today's march will be allowed to attend a meeting the municipality will arrange with Isolomzi Security," said Memani.
