KNYSNA NEWS - The municipality has launched the "My Municipal Meters"' app, a user-friendly tool that enables residents to personally submit their water and electricity meter readings.
Billing accuracy
The initiative is aimed at enhancing billing accuracy and provides consumers with greater control over their utility usage.
Municipal manager Lulamile Mapholoba said the app offers significant advantages for both consumers and the municipality.
Through the app the municipality is leveraging technology to enhance service delivery and build stronger relationships with residents.
"For consumers, the app enables direct submission of meter readings, eliminating the inaccuracies associated with estimated readings," Mapholoba said.
"This direct input allows residents to monitor and manage their utility usage effectively, fostering greater consumption awareness.
'Enhances privacy'
"The app also enhances privacy by removing the necessity for meter readers to access personal property, and it ensures that utility bills accurately reflect actual consumption, leading to precise billing."
He continued: "From the municipality's perspective, the app improves access by reducing instances of inaccessible meters, thereby streamlining operations.
'Photographic evidence'
"It also incorporates quality assurance measures through the use of photographic evidence for verification purposes.
"This feature enhances billing accuracy and revenue collection, contributing to revenue optimisation.
"The app strengthens trust between the municipality and its residents by promoting transparency and reliability in utility management.
"The 'My Municipal Meters' app represents a significant step forward in our commitment to service excellence.
"By empowering residents with the tools to manage their utility usage directly, we are fostering a more transparent and efficient system that benefits all stakeholders."
