KNYSNA NEWS - The relocation of key municipal departments to the Knysna Mall is in progress.
The move is not welcomed by all, as several residents and opposition party representatives have questioned the move due to Knysna Mall's rates and taxes dispute with the municipality.
The departments being relocated include the Directorate of Planning & Development (encompassing Building Control, Land Use Management, Local Economic Development, and Environmental Management) as well as Infrastructure Services (comprising Water & Sanitation, Roads & Stormwater, and Project Management).
The Public Participation Unit will be moving to 3 Clyde Street, opposite Ted’s Motor Spares.
As a result of the relocation, some services may experience temporary interruptions. Municipal Manager Ombali Sebola assured residents that despite potential disruptions, staff will be working remotely to assist customers, albeit with possible delays.
The relocation process starts today, 22 April with the closure of the aforementioned departments to the public on Thursday and Friday, 25 & 26 April.
Sebola says further announcements regarding the relocation of departments such as Cashiers, Rates & Accounts, Traffic Licencing, and Supply Chain Management will be made as soon as relocation dates are finalised.
