PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Thanks to eagle-eyed Kwanokuthula residents, seven suspects have been arrested in connection with drug-related crimes.
Police spokesperson Captain Marlene Pieterse said the suspects, between the ages 27 and 31, were arrested on 13 October at 12:00 after they were allegedly found in possession of tik and cannabis.
The drugs were found in a shipping container, used as a hair salon, in Shishuba Street by members of the community, said Pieterse.
Plettenberg Bay Crime Prevention Association (PBCPA) operations head Otto Olivier said concerned residents suspected that something was amiss when the container, which had been closed for an extended period, was open.
When Kwanokuthula Crime Prevention members investigated, they discovered the drugs, Olivier added. Police were contacted and arrested the suspects.
Pieterse said that they found 47 straws of tik and a “big bag" containing cannabis, and that a case of dealing in drugs is being investigated.
All seven suspects appeared in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate Court on 15 October, but were released while police awaited laboratory results.
Tik and cannabis were confiscated in Kwanokuthula.
