KNYSNA NEWS - Two of Knysna's young sports prodigies, Jade Gallant (12) and Requelme Juicy (13), are making waves on the provincial stage with impressive achievements in multiple disciplines.
Jade has not only secured a place in the SWD U12 Netball Team, but has also made the U13 provincial hockey team.
She will represent the province at the hockey tournament in Johannesburg from 29 June to 2 July, before heading off to compete in the netball nationals from 15 to 19 July.
Earlier this year, she also broke the SWD U12 long jump record, won gold in the 100m sprint at the SWD athletics meet and went on to represent the Western Cape at the SA Athletics Championships in Durban in March.
Coach Radian Williams praised Jade's commitment and drive. "I'm proud of the levels Jade is willing to push to reach the top every time.
Our next goal is the 2026 SA Championships, where we're aiming for gold in the U13 girls' long jump, high jump and 100m."
Juicy
Another standout is Requelme Juicy, who continues to impress as a multitalented athlete.
Requelme recently made the U13 Academy Week rugby team and will participate in the prestigious Craven Week tournament, held in East London from 29 June to 7 July.
Not long ago, Requelme broke the U13 high jump record and continues to dominate across disciplines.
Requelme Juicy
"I'm excited to see Requelme grow into the athlete he's destined to be. He's a perfect example of hard work, dedication and willpower," Williams said.
As both Jade and Requelme wrap up their final year of primary school, they are truly leaving with a bang.
