KNYSNA NEWS - A planned burn is under way in the Millwood/Goudveld area north of Rheenendal today, 27 February.
About 160 hectares of land will be burned and will produce significant smoke. According to SANParks spokesperson Nandi Mgwadlamba It is an ecological burn, to stimulate growth of indigenous vegetation.
The burn is also seen as a measure against runaway wildfires.
The following organisations will be involved with the execution of the planned fire: Southern Cape Fire Protection Association (SCFPA), SANParks, Working on Fire (WoF) and MTO Cape.
The SCFPA has submitted the burn plan and will execute the burn on behalf of SANParks, and WoF air support will be on standby.
