KNYSNA NEWS - The Sea Cadet Corps, TS Knysna, recently marked its 37th anniversary with a ceremonial parade celebrating more than three decades of youth development, leadership and maritime training.

Deputy Mayor Morton Gericke, accompanied by Brigadier General Stevens Mdluli, was the inspecting officer at the anniversary parade, which honoured the organisation's contribution to developing young people in the community.

For the past 37 years, the Knysna Sea Cadets have provided young people with training aimed at instilling discipline, leadership, respect and resilience through mentorship and maritime activities.

Many former cadets have gone on to pursue successful careers in various fields.

Addressing those in attendance, Gericke encouraged the cadets to value the lessons they were learning through the programme. "The discipline and character you develop here will always be your greatest strength," he said.

The municipality congratulated TS Knysna on reaching the milestone and acknowledged the commitment of its instructors, volunteers, parents and supporters whose continued dedication has helped shape generations of confident young leaders.

The anniversary celebration emphasised the organisation's long-standing role in youth development and its continued commitment to equipping young people with life skills and leadership qualities.
