KNYSNA NEWS - The woman who was allegedly assaulted by a Knysna ANC ward councillor yesterday, Yonela Joko, has opened a case of assault with the police.
Joko appears to have been caught up in a fight between ANC factions at the registration for the by-election in Ward 8 (Concordia) on Sunday 11 May.
A by-election has to take place in Ward 8 after Tsengwa recently resigned as ANC councillor.
Eventful day
In unrelated events that also occurred yesterday, Sunday 11 May, various areas in Nekkies and Concordia were affected by protests about lack of water.
The N2 was blocked in both directions between Plettenberg Bay and Knysna for almost an hour until public order police stepped in to assist with opening the highway.
