Update
KNYSNA NEWS - An 11-year-old girl from Chris Nissen Primary School has been missing since 5 October.
The George Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual offences unit (FCS) has urged the public to help find Oyisa Mgqwanci who was last seen at the Joodsekamp settlement in Knysna on Saturday.
Investigation indicates she went out with friends but never returned home. She was dressed in a blue shirt and blue jeans at the time of her disappearance. A search party consisting of members of the local police, a trained search-and-rescue dog attached to the K9 unit, CPF and members of the community has been looking for Oyisa since the matter was reported.
Anyone with information is requested to contact Sergeant Ludwe Dlambulo at 082 335 1200 or 044 302 6677. All information will be dealt with confidentially.
In light of Oyisa's disappearance, her school cancelled a show that was scheduled for Wednesday this week and are instead raising awareness about missing children. Teacher Likho Ludlolo said, "It is unfortunate that our children are alive in such a time, we as a school are saddened by this and feel we need to do more and that is by having these information sessions with our learners."
