Members may enter two images that best represent their interpretation of the chosen theme, and the judging is undertaken by external independent judges. The judging for this competition was carried out by Theo Honiball a retired naval officer, Sue Maule of Frame by Frame and Glynis Vogel a well known local artist. All three are artists/photographers in their own right.
The theme for the most recent competition was All Things Nautical. Fifty-eight images were submitted, and the results were announced at a social evening held at the Knysna Golf Club on the evening of Thursday, October 10.
The guest speakers were Alix Carmichele, a well known photojournalist and photographer, and Theo Honiball, a retired naval officer. Thereafter the results of the judging were announced.
The categories are broken up into junior and senior photographers. The juniors being the 1-3 star photographers, and the seniors the 4 star and above photographers.
In the junior category the prize winners were:
- 1: Michael Holgate a 1 star photographer for his image Blue Dusk. The prize a voucher sponsored by Island Diner, Beacon Isle Hotel.
- 2: Joan Rounce a 3 star photographer for her image All Fished Out. The prize a hamper sponsored by Office Supplies Unlimited.
- 3: Gordon Smith a 3 star photographer for his image Slangkop Lighthouse. The prize a voucher sponsored by Fruit & Veg.
- Most Original: Dawid Malan a 2 star photographer for his image Amplitude. The prize a meal voucher sponsored by Caffé Mario.
- Highly Commended: Brian Smith a 2 star photographer for his image Blue Lagoon. The prize a meal voucher sponsored by L'Opera.
- Highly Commended: Derek Rushton a 3 star photographer for his image Waiting. The prize a meal voucher sponsored by L'Opera.
- 1: Mary Hunter a 5 star photographer for her image Run Aground. The prize Garden-in-a-Box, sponsored by Cutting-Edge Landscapers.
- 2: Eileen Covaar a 5 star photographer for her image Kiani Satu. The prize an A3 canvas stretch sponsored by FotoFirst.
- 3: Sonia Elliott a 5 star photographer for her image Harvesting Dinner. The prize a voucher sponsored by Bunches.
- Most Original: Schutte Combrink a 4 star photographer for his image Don't Pay the Ferryman. The prize a voucher sponsored by Frame by Frame.
- Highly Commended: Anne Hrabar a 5 star photographer for her image Dry Dock. The prize a voucher sponsored by Kloppers.
- Highly Commended: Rob Wood a 4 star photographer for his image Goukamma Shipwreck. The prize a voucher sponsored by Kloppers.
