SEDGEFIELD NEWS - One person was killed in an accident on the N2 outside Sedgefield this morning.
It is believed that a truck transporting Volkswagen cars collided with another vehicle.
The truck veered off the road after the collision.
The extent of injuries to other individuals involved is not known at this stage, but the person who was airlifted in the emergency response helicopter is believed to have died from their injuries.
Recovery of the truck is under way, with police and other emergency response service still on the scene.
The N2 between Sedgefield and Wilderness is temporarily closed.
