KNYSNA NEWS - Velile Waxa, who remains in custody after his arrest in connection with the murder of councillor Victor Molosi, is no longer a councillor in Knysna.
Earlier this year, Waxa was subjected to a disciplinary hearing due to a number of charges of misconduct, contravening the Code of Conduct for Councillors, and found guilty on all counts.
In July, the Knysna council requested local government minister Anton Bredell to remove Waxa from council, and in a letter addressed to Waxa on 1 November, Bredell states that he concurs with the findings of the disciplinary committee and therefore removes Waxa from council with immediate effect.
In his letter, Bredell says, "Should you wish to review my decision, you may approach the Western Cape High Court."
Waxa was an independent ward councillor of Ward 4, where by-elections will now be held to replace him.
