SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Two people have been critically injured after a paragliding accident that occurred in Sedgefield earlier today.
According to ER24, their paragliding chute allegedly collapsed, sending them plummeting to the ground.
The 28-year-old male passenger and the instructor, a female believed to be in her 30s, suffered critical back and pelvis fractures in the fall.
"It is believed that a sudden change in wind folded the chute while they were still high up," the release from ER24 said.
ER24 paramedics as well as Sedgefield’s Fire Department were on scene at 12:45 this afternoon.
"Both paragliders were treated with Advanced Life Support interventions and immobilised before being transported to a private hospital in Knysna for further care," the statement concluded.
