THUMBS UP
• To Mark and Joanna of the Knysna fire department, for taking the time to come to the Heads and teach volunteers how to connect fire hoses to hydrants and use them to fight fires until the fire brigade arrives to take over.
• To Vinyl, for a very well-organised venue for Prime Circle's performance on Friday 5 January. What a wonderful atmosphere. It was so much fun and great to see some of the old locals as well as the holidaymakers. We all had a great time and really look forward to the next event. Thanks to Derek and Alan for everything. Keep up the fun times and good work.
• To Marven and Cresch of the Knysna fire department for speedy service. Ten minutes after my phone call they were busy cutting the tree that was blocking Circular Drive just after 06:00.
• Linda Wenhold for an excellent and reliable house cleaning service; Elna Brown of the Laundry Room in Woodmill Lane for her convenient laundry service; White Washed for delicious and well-presented catering; Julie for her super photos; and Herman Kapp at Fruit & Veg for finding a whole brie cheese for me in Johannesburg, and having it delivered in time to me in Knysna. I have not normally needed such personal services in Knysna, and they were all done so well and with minimum fuss and bother, at the peak of the tourist season! Thank you, all!
THUMBS DOWN
• To the man who took his trolley full of items to the 10-items-or-less till at Pick n Pay this past Monday, and when told that it was 10 items or less, became rude and obnoxious!
