PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Plettenberg Bay residents are urged to report incidents of aggressive behaviour by a certain local man to police. The man has been causing havoc in town with assaults, causing damage to property and displaying general aggression to passers-by.
In the most recent incident the suspect kicked a vehicle at a stop sign along Piesang Valley Road near the national road, causing major damage to the car. It is alleged that he ran up to the vehicle and kicked it without provocation.
Local crime fighters managed to apprehend the suspect and handed him over to police. The victim also opened a case against him. He is scheduled to appear in the Plettenberg Bay Magistrate's Court this week.
In recent months the same man allegedly assaulted a woman in the town's centre and there have been reports of him spitting at passers-by and displaying aggression towards residents and visitors.
It is believed that the suspect suffers from mental issues and substance abuse.
Lisa Nagel of the local neighbourhood watch group, Plett.Watch, urged residents who fall victim to the suspect to make it a priority to report it to police. "There are still cases pending against him, and the more cases, the better the chances of getting him off the streets," Nagel said.
Residents have also taken to social media to voice their concerns. Many have mentioned that they feel unsafe when frequenting the town's centre due to the threat posed by the suspect.
