KNYSNA NEWS - Women from the Garden Route National Park (GRNP recently gathered as a way to get to know one another and foster relationships).
The event on 27 September in Wilderness was organised by the park's scientific services manager Nerina Kruger, who said, "It is important to gather as women and work together in the workplace."
Also present was the park's research group general manager Dr Stef Freitag, who said, "Women play various roles daily – at work, within families and society in general.
"Special days such as this provide a platform to get to know other women in the park as well as foster relationships among women, which is important in the workplace."
The event was attended by most women based in the three sections of the park, consisting of Tsitsikamma, Knysna and Wilderness.
The day included a game along the lines of television reality show The Amazing Race, which allowed participants to practically experience the Wilderness section and its various offerings.
Questions and clues to complete each lap of the race included running on trails, canoeing, historical sites, caves, and more.
"The ladies were asked to prepare a war cry in their groups, which was great fun," said GRNP spokesperson Nandi Mgwadlamba.
She added that the topics discussed on the day were also very relevant to encourage women and let them know their hard work does not go unappreciated. – Staff reporter
