The Plettenberg Bay SAPS have urged teenagers attending to take heed of the following safety precautions:
- Avoid isolated places and dark places, especially at night.
- Avoid isolated ATMs and using an ATM late at night.
- Don't leave a party or social event with unknown or recently met people.
- Never leave valuable items visible in vehicles.
- Walk in well-lit, busy streets and in a group, if possible.
- Don't drink and drive.
- Don't drink on the beach.
- Say no to drugs and substance abuse.
- Do not leave belongings unsupervised.
- Do realise that criminals or opportunists are on the lookout for soft targets during holiday periods. Be crime conscious – stay aware of opportunities for crime at all times.
- Report suspicious vehicles and people to SAPS.
- Know all emergency numbers in the area (Plettenberg Bay SAPS - 044 5011908/09/10).
