KNYSNA NEWS - The very first reconstruction and development programme (RDP) house in Karatara is on the verge of completion after less than 10 days of construction.
The construction of the house is being championed by Cape Island Construction (CIC) and Namandla Construction, and is making use of innovative building technologies (IBT) methods to build the house by using autoclaved aerated concrete (AAC) blocks.
According to Cameron Ward Able, managing director of CIC, the AAC blocks allow for fast building, and this shows in the fact that after only five days of building they were able to begin with plastering and roof sheeting.

The outer shell of the house, which sports a new architectural tweak designed by Jerome Starke of Starke Architects, should be finished by the end of this week, while the inside of the house is expected to be finished during next week.
By Tuesday, 3 September, the outer shell of the house was completed with the roof being completed in the photo.
