PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Police have launched a manhunt for two suspects following a robbery at a spaza shop in Kwanokuthula, Plettenberg Bay on Wednesday, 31 August, in which an Ethiopian national died.
The incident took place in Shishuba Street, Kwanokuthula at about 11:40.
A SAPS spokesperson said Kwanokuthula police were dispatched to the scene where they found the body of a man on the floor of the shop.
Preliminary investigations indicated that two men, one armed with a firearm, entered the shop and demanded cash. An altercation ensued and the Ethiopian man sustained a gunshot wound to his body.
The suspects took an undisclosed amount of cash and fled the scene.
The 27-year-old victim was declared dead by paramedics on the scene and crime experts combed the area for clues.
A murder docket has been opened for further police investigation. The suspects are still at large.
Initial investigation on scene “clearly indicated” that this was an act of criminality, said the spokesperson.
It was not linked to recent reports of tension between locals and foreign nationals in the area.
“Investigations into the incident continue,” said the spokesperson.
