PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - With a massive influx of youngsters in Plettenberg Bay over the next week for the Plett Rage student festival, local police have provided several tips to ensure their safety.
Plettenberg Bay police spokesperson Captain Marlene Pieterse urged youngsters to avoid isolated and dark places, especially at night.
"It is also advisable to avoid isolated ATMs and also using these at night. Criminals are opportunists and are always on the lookout for soft targets during holiday periods," she said.
Pieterse also advised festinos not to leave a party or social event with unknown people or someone they had just met. "Walk in well-lit and busy streets and stick to walking in a group."
She said drinking and driving is obviously a big no-no.
Lastly, Pieterse said, "Never leave your belongings unsupervised and never leave your valuable items visible in vehicles."
If anyone observes suspicious behaviour, report it to local police at 044 501 1908/9/10.
