SEDGEFIELD NEWS - The two men charged with theft and the murder of an elderly Sedgefield man appeared in the Knysna Magistrate's Court last week, when the matter was postponed for legal representation as well as a formal bail application later this month.
The suspects, John Mccombi (27) and Henry Molligan (43), were arrested after the 76-year-old Peter Henson's lifeless body was discovered by a member of the community on Monday 16 September and reported to the police.
He was found lying on the floor, already deceased, with his hands tied behind his back and a cloth in his mouth.
The police's investigation then led them to a residence in Smutsville, Sedgefield where they recovered stolen items and arrested the two men.
Southern Cape police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie said their investigation revealed that the suspects entered the residence of the victim, overpowered him and tied him up whereafter they fled with a number of personal belongings of the deceased which included a DStv decoder, a knife and personal diary of the deceased.
The matter was postponed to 30 September and both suspects remain in custody.
