KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Mayor Mark Willemse is not taking the termination of his DA membership lying down.
The DA notified Willemse on Monday that his application to be re-admitted as a member of the DA has been refused, and Willemse immediately responded with an urgent application for an interdict to stop this process.
According to the DA, Willemse is no longer mayor or councillor of the municipality and that the mayoral committee has been dissolved.
The party said the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) will declare a by-election to fill the vacant seat.
