KNYSNA NEWS - Former Knysnarian Caitlin Chetty was recently announced as one of the semi-finalists in the 2023 Mrs South Africa competition, and was thrilled at the news.
Caitlin received the news on 3 February after the national casting event at Emperors Palace in Johannesburg.
Following the announcement, the semi-finalists took part in a jam-packed two-day conference filled with motivational talks, workshops, upskilling sessions, socialising and networking opportunities.
"I was thrilled to receive the news of my placement, and I'm so looking forward to the journey that this opportunity will bring," says Caitlin.
Sharing more about her decision to enter, Caitlin says, "I've always been passionate about supporting others and making a difference in the community around me. I have always had a love for dance and now have the privilege of facilitating ballet classes where, over and above teaching ballet, I get to encounter ladies of all ages and paths and strive to make each lesson with my students purposeful and positive.
"What attracted me to enter was everything that Mrs South Africa stands for and how much the ethos and attributes resonate within me already."
As part of her journey, she hopes to further help those around her and invest in initiatives that empower women of all ages. "I am honoured to be a part of this journey and hope to use the Mrs South Africa platform to further these works and initiatives on a greater spectrum," she said.

A Knysnarian at the core
Caitlin was born in Cape Town, where she spent the first seven years of her life before she and her family moved to Knysna in 1997. She attended Knysna Primary School and then Knysna High School, from which she matriculated in 2007.
"I left Knysna in 2008 to pursue a career in civil engineering/road construction," Caitlin explains. However, her family still call Knysna home and she often comes back to visit.
What makes her achievement of reaching the Mrs SA semi-finals all the more special, is that Caitlin has never before been involved. This is her first-ever pageant and foray into the modelling world.
