To boost employment, reduce poverty and achieve annual economic growth of 7% the ACDP will:
- Ensure that the State provides the enabling environment to grow the economy faster;
- Increase public sector investment in infrastructure;
- Review the Gauteng e-tolling system;
- Review labour legislation and collective bargaining;
- Extend the youth wage subsidy.
- Increase social wages;
- Discourage ongoing dependency on the state;
- Increase the number of social workers.
- To address safety and security, the ACDP will:
- Strengthen police units and ensure training;
- Establish more police stations and forensic laboratories;
- Ensure a coordinated law-enforcement approach;
- Implement Restorative Justice programmes for minor offences;
- Review the parole and bail system;
- Broaden prison labour programmes.
- Ensure that the Protection of State Information law is not used to prevent exposing corruption;
- Reintroduce the Scorpions;
- Ensure corrupt public officials are held personally liable to refund the state;
- To improve education the ACDP will:
- Prioritise basic skills;
- Prioritise access to early childhood development facilities from 0-7 years;
- Address the standard of matric;
- Increase bursaries for tertiary education;
- Re-open teacher training colleges;
- Reintroduce school inspectors;
- Improve adult education;
- Remove gang, weapons, drugs and alcohol from schools;
- Limit the impact of trade unions on teaching.
- Provide clean water and sanitation;
- Make HIV/Aids a notifiable disease and extend antiretroviral and preventative treatment;
- Promote abstinence from premarital sex and fidelity;
- Educate the public about the dangers of obesity;
- Intervene to reduce maternal and child mortality;
- Improve public hospital services;
- Implement the National Health Insurance scheme in a phased manner;
- Fill posts with competent medical practitioners and managers;
- Implement community-based primary health care;
- Consider the use of GMO food;
- Support renewable energy and global environmental standards.
- Upgrade informal settlements;
- Promote affordable housing through community-owned self-help schemes;
- Use new technology for alternative housing models;
- Review and establish a comprehensive data-base of persons on waiting lists for housing;
- Ensure safe, reliable and affordable public transport;
- Protect property rights;
- Promote agricultural development;
- Focus on rural development to address issues that arise from urban migration.
- To promote healthy families and a value-based society, the ACDP will:
- Amend laws and policies that undermine family values, such as access to contraceptives and abortion by children without parental consent; inappropriate sex education in schools; attempts to ban moderate parental chastisement and legalise prostitution, and the legislation of pornography and abortion-on-demand.
