KNYSNA NEWS - Fraaisig Primary School in Knysna recently received a donation of 40 trees, as part of annual Arbour Day commemorations. A mix of indigenous shade and fruit trees were received by the school on 4 September.
“Arbor Day is well recognised across the globe as a tree-planting volunteer day where people from all different walks of life get together to try and make a difference in the best interest of our planet,” says Patricia Coetzee, group health and safety manager for the Fidelity Security Group.
“This day provided us with an opportunity to give back to our communities by showing our commitment to the environmental wellbeing in the areas we operate. As a group, we realise the importance of finding a balance between people, planet and profit, and in this case we saw an opportunity to make a tangible difference.
“I am delighted by the enthusiasm showed by our employees on the ground; they worked incredibly hard. It is not only about the actual trees, but also about creating awareness among staff and the children,” she says.
