KNYSNA NEWS - The number of active Covid-19 cases in both Knysna and Bitou have decreased this week, with both sub-districts also enjoying a decrease in the number of new cases.
Registrations to receive the Covid-19 vaccine in the Western Cape continue to edge ever closer to the three-million mark.
As at Monday 11 April, the Western Cape has seen 2 978 984 registrations for the vaccine, 53,08% of the eligible population.
In the Garden Route a total of 259 866 people have registered for the vaccine, 52,49% of the eligible population.
In Knysna there has been a total of 36 756 vaccine registrations, which is 64,03% of the eligible population. Bitou has seen a total of 22 603 vaccine registrations, 53,19% of the eligible population.
As at Wednesday 13 April, Knysna had recorded a total of 9 864 cases of Covid-19, of which 9 543 have recovered, 290 have died, and 31 are active cases.

The number of new cases in the past week, 17, is a decrease of 15% (-3) in new cases from the week before.
The active cases also decreased this week, falling by 26,19% (-11). The recovery rate has risen ever so slightly, up to 96,75% (96,64% last week). The deaths have increased by one to 290.
In Bitou as at Wednesday, 5 740 Covid-19 cases had been recorded, with 5 574 having recovered, 143 having died, and 23 being active cases.
This shows 13 new cases recorded between 5 and 13 April, a decrease of 18,75% (-3).
The active cases have fallen by 20,69% (-6) this week.
The recovery rate increased and is now 97,11% (96,98% last week), and the mortality rate is 2,5%. The deaths have not increased for the fifth week in a row.
