KNYSNA NEWS - Do you know of a local business, organisation or individual that deserves public recognition? Then it's time to send in your nominations for the 2015 Sanlam Knysna Awards.
Now in its third year, these prestigious awards honour and reward exceptional local companies, businesses, community leaders, brands and industry players who are making a positive impact on our town and the greater Knysna area.
The awards are the brainchild of Sozo Digital Agency and are designed to acknowledge, encourage and promote Knysna enterprises – especially those producing quality products and delivering exceptional services that make the town competitive in the fields of technology, trade and investment.
Sozo's co-director Pieter Cloete commented: "The awards are our way of making a meaningful contribution to the community. They have really captured the public's imagination and my fellow directors and I get a fantastic buzz from organising the event and sponsoring the Social Media and Online Marketing Award."
Following the success of the previous years' events, Sanlam has increased its level of sponsorship for 2015.
"Sanlam is a household-name company with a superb track record of supporting South Africa's business and economic development at grassroots level," Cloete added.
Nominate now
Whether it's a workshop in Hornlee, an organic veggie business in Rheenendal, an upmarket lagoonside café or a person who goes the extra mile to serve the community, there's certain to be an individual, business or organisation that you believe is worthy of public recognition.
The nominations phase has just opened and will run from now until October 31. All nominations should be submitted online at www.knysnaawards.co.za.
The public voting process will take place between November 15 and January 17 2016, followed by the gala awards evening at the prestigious Simola Hotel on February 4 next year.
Award winners can expect extensive media coverage as well as receiving a distinctive Sanlam Knysna Awards trophy and certificate.
Entrants must be located in and operate from the Greater Knysna area (Sedgefield, Rheenendal, Harkerville and surrounds), be registered (where applicable) with the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC), be in possession of a valid Tax Clearance Certificate and comply with all relevant laws and regulations of government and/or industry associations pertaining to their sphere of activity.
Entrants can be nominated in up to three of the following categories:
- Small Business Awards (sponsored by Sanlam).
- Business Woman of the Year Award (sponsored by Sanlam).
- Business Man of the Year Award (sponsored by Sanlam).
- Best Eatery Award.
- Best Tourism Establishment Award.
- Best Community Leader Award.
- Charity Award.
- Best Tourism Activity, Festival and Local Market Award.
- Proudly Knysna Award.
- Young Entrepreneur Award.
- Service Excellence Award.
- Social Media and Online Marketing Award (sponsored by Sozo Digital Agency).
At the discretion of the judges, a Lifetime Achievement Award will also be presented, to a local individual or organisation they believe has made a significant contribution to Knysna.
