KNYSNA BUSINESS NEWS - A new venture in Knysna is nothing short of a dream come true for local artists.
Iphupho Creative Designs and Workshops, situated at No 2 Templeman building opposite the African market in Main Street, is the brainchild of owners Babalwa Ndude and Zita Bakker, created solely for the purpose that local artists and designers can sell their original work, made on the premises, and share their wealth of knowledge during workshops. The isiXosa word "Iphupho" means "dream".
The shop, which was opened a year ago, offers all things South African ranging from decor, hand-knitted cushions, leather bags, beads, paintings, ceramics, towels and much more.
Ndude says what sets them apart is that they offer a unique experience to potential clients. “It is one thing to see a complete painting but to see the process – each stroke, the play of colours – makes one appreciate the work so much more, and that is what we offer.”
She adds, “If you have hands, you have an ability to create and that is why we have three-hour workshops for people interested in art, on Tuesday and Saturdays.”
