Dear Sirs
In your edition of 23 June 2022 you refer to the voices in defence of the baboons insisting that the baboon problem in Hunters Home and Rexford is due to the fact that humans have occupied their natural habitat. WHAT UTTER NONSENSE.
I have resided in Hunter's Home for the past 40 years and I can assure these voices that their habitat DID NOT include these areas.
Their natural habitat has always been the area now known as Pezula Golf Estate and Pezula Private Estate and the reason why they have invaded Hunters Home and Rexford is simply because they are discouraged from roaming their natural habitat by the residents of Pezula.
And they return to their natural habitat of Pezula every night.
May such voices be cursed with an invasion of their homes by their four-legged friends !
There is also a perception out there that a baboon's protected species status trumps the rights of humans from defending themselves or their property from their aggressive and destructive behaviour. NOT SO AT ALL.
If reasonable defence or necessity under the circumstances warrants it, even the life of a baboon may be justifiably taken.
