PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Get Lucky Summer is back in Plett once again and last weekend, GoodLuck kicked off their iconic summer music series at the Beacon Island Resort with an energy- and dance-filled show.
The show on Sunday 18 December was the second of the 2022/23 Get Lucky Summer series, as GoodLuck had kicked things off at the Constantia Sports Fields in Cape Town the Sunday before.
But, it was the first show of the season in Plettenberg Bay, and despite the weather looking ominous for the bulk of the weekend, conditions were perfect for a great jol on the lawns at Beacon Island on Sunday.
Knysna local DJ Kix set the mood and kicked off the event with some smooth tunes to get the crowd into the groove in an hour-long set. Thereafter South African singer/songwriter Majozi took to the Get Lucky Summer stage and brought with him his intoxicating good vibes and positivity.
As usual, he did not disappoint with his blend of acoustic and electronic sounds and proved to be the perfect precursor to GoodLuck.
Jules Harding was full of energy and positivity.
The South African electronic music trio has become synonymous with summers in Plettenberg Bay, and they love it too. Jules Harding, the group's lead singer and co-founder, often declares the group's love for Plett on stage.
This is evident in the positivity that Harding, Ben Peters and Tim Welsh (who make up the trio) exude and, coupled with their music, it made for a great night out at Beacon Island.
There is still much more to come this season for GoodLuck and Get Lucky Summer – they are performing in Hermanus on 21 December alongside Will Linley, Casey Lowry and Veranda Panda; there's a Prime Circle takeover at Beacon Island on 28 December with Gerry VDM; and on 8 January they will round things off with Msaki.
Majozi poured his heart and soul into the performance.
Then there is of course the three-day New Year's Eve festival GoodLuck are hosting in Plett, with Mango Groove, Spoegwolf, Will Linley, Veranda Panda and more performing from 30 December to 1 January at the Robberg Rugby Fields.
They will also be hosting a NYE bash in Knysna on 31 December where GoodLuck, Will Linley, Veranda Panda, Steve Umculo and local DJ JUST DRU will all perform at The Knysna Experience.
Knysna local DJ Kix played a warm-up set at the start of the evening.
GoodLuck's performance was aided by back-up dancers.
