KNYSNA NEWS - Knysna Montessori School is in for a treat, once again, as Wilderness Jazz group, Sugar and Spice will be performing live at the school for a Jazz concert.
11-year-old Montessori pupil Jodi-Anne Michael will be their special guest. She has recently earned the title of Best Vocalist at the Young Musicians Competition.
Sugar and Spice is primarily a show band and will take you on a journey with classic Standard, Swing and Latin Jazz dating back to the Nat King Cole, Cole Porter era and some of the favourite Antonio Carlos Jobim melodies.
The concert will take place on Friday 27 July at 19:00 in the Knysna Montessori Amphitheatre.
This Jazz group from George and Wilderness consists of Cecily Pepler (vocals), Rico Muller (piano & vocals), Soppie Thyse (bass & vocals) and Kevi Levin (drums).
The lead singer Cecily Pepler who also manages the group says they want to share their music with a wider audience of Jazz lovers in the Knysna area. “Our love for this genre gives us a platform to revisit the beautiful music written so long ago, music that is timeless and familiar, and it is exciting to witness someone so young having the same appreciation” said Pepler.
Bring your own drinks. Light meals will be available before the show which starts promptly at 19:00.
A portion of the proceeds from the concert will go to the school. Ticket prices are R120 for adults and R60 for scholars under 12 years. Booking early is advised by calling Cecily on 082 768 2005.
