GEORGE NEWS - The George-based Carpe Musicam! orchestra and choir are all set for their new show, Fantasia 2019.
The group will be in Knysna on 16 March at the Dutch Reformed Church Hall in Fichat Street.
A decidedly Celtic and Gaelic flavour can be expected, with 99 performers taking to the stage to sing, play and dance their way through music ranging from Johann Pachelbel's Celtic Canon in D to Sir Paul McCartney's We All Stand Together.
Doubling as master of ceremonies, Steve Prophet will be making his live performance debut.
Also present are the Cape Field Artillery Pipes and Drums, a quartet of Highland dancers from the Albion School of Highland Dance in Cape Town, as well as Aidan Hyland, who represented SA at the 2014 World Irish Dance Championships in London.
The finale features all participants and includes the theme from The Last of the Mohicans and Riverdance with Highland and Irish dancers, pipes and drums as well as a 44-voice choir and 35-piece orchestra.
Tickets are R100 for adults, U18 free. The German Shop at 45 Waterfront Drive in Knysna will be selling tickets for the Knysna show.
All ticket sales are cash only. An early bird special that offers a free ticket with every three tickets purchased will apply to tickets bought before 28 February. Tickets will also be available at the door.
