KNYSNA NEWS - Last weekend, local art admirers were once again able to enjoy the work of Garden Route artists at the third Art in the Yard event.
The series of Art in the Yard events started out in 2021 in the form of three Art in the Park events, but this year they evolved into their current form - a monthly mini art market held at Art Café on Queen.
Each Art in the Yard event provides a collection of Garden Route artists the opportunity to showcase and exhibit their works on an open and welcoming platform.
"Essentially, local artists aren't always afforded the platform or exposure they deserve, and that is what the idea for the Art in the Yard events was born from," said Knysna Arts Society chairperson Helena Gerber.
"We aim to provide the artists with just that - a platform through which they can showcase their phenomenal works and also network among one another."
The latest Art in the Yard was held on Saturday 16 April, with 10 artists putting their brilliant artworks on display. The works varied widely in nature, and provided a bit of everything for art lovers. The artists set up their stalls and stands under a tent outside the café.
Those who attended could grab a coffee and/or breakfast from the café before strolling around the "yard" and taking in the art.
They were also treated to the musical stylings of Wendy Dewberry throughout the morning, who perfectly sound-tracked the day.
