KNYSNA NEWS - The future of girls’ rugby was on display at Hornlee Sports Field last Wednesday when young players from five primary schools took to the field for the latest round of the Kilt U13 Girls 10s Rugby League.
Seven matches were played as the 2026 third-term campaign continued, with Chris Nissen producing the day’s standout results by securing three victories. Chris Nissen got the day off to a strong start with a 30-10 victory over Sunridge in the opening match.
Sedgefield then secured a 20-5 win over Thembelitsha in the second encounter, putting together a solid performance to secure the victory. Fraaisig also enjoyed a winning start, keeping Rheenendal scoreless in a 20-0 victory.
Chris Nissen returned to the field later in the day and produced another convincing performance, defeating Thembelitsha 40-0.
Sunridge returned to winning ways when they faced Rheenendal, claiming a 25-5 victory.
The afternoon produced another competitive contest as Fraaisig faced Chris Nissen. Chris Nissen again proved too strong, securing a 20-5 victory to complete a perfect three-from-three record for the day.
The final fixture saw Thembelitsha finish strongly against Rheenendal, recording a 20-0 victory.

With its perfect winning record for the day, Chris Nissen emerged as the standout team of the round.
Fraaisig, Sedgefield and Sunridge also registered important wins, while all the participating schools continued to gain valuable experience on the rugby field.
The Kilt U13 Girls 10s Rugby League provides young players with an opportunity to develop their rugby skills, teamwork and confidence while encouraging greater participation in girls’ sport.
