GARDEN ROUTE NEWS – The four Olympic athletes from Knysna and Plett will be taking part in four different sporting codes during the course of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, which starts in three weeks.
The Olympic opening ceremony will be on 23 July (the first soccer matches start the day before) and the closing ceremony on 8 August, and our Olympians will be scattered around the schedule.
But, we've got you covered so you can map out your route to supporting our guys and gals (all times are local to South Africa):
Athenkosi Dlala (Soccer):
- South Africa vs Japan, 22 July, 13:00
- South Africa vs France, 25 July, 10:00
- South Africa vs Mexico, 28 July, 13:30
Sam Mvimbi (Hockey):
- South Africa vs Great Britain, 24 July, 11:30
- South Africa vs Netherlands, 25 July, 14:15
- South Africa vs Belgium, 27 July, 11:30
- South Africa vs Germany, 29 July, 11:45
Leo Davis (Sailing):
We are not sure on which day or in which heat Davis will participate, but the scheduled days and times are as follows:
- Men's Finns, 49er, Heats: 27 and 28 July, 05:00 to 11:00
- Men's Finns, 49er, Heats: 30 and 31 July, 05:00 to 11:00
Aimee Canny (Swimming):
Women's 4x100m Medley Relay Heats: 30 July, 12:00 to 14:30 (We are not sure which exact time the heat will take place, but it is scheduled for this time slot).
