PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - It is said that if you take away one of your senses, the others sharpen. Well, Plettenberg Bay residents and visitors will have the opportunity to put this theory to the test at the MTO Twilight Trail Run.
Organised by Muddy Foot Adventures, Buco Trail Running and MTO Trails, the event will take place on 18 February at the Royston Farms on the outskirts of the coastal holiday town.
This is not the first time an event like this has been held in Plett and night running has grown in popularity over the years.
"Running at night opens a whole new world to runners. One gets into the zone of your headlight. With limited visibility your other senses sharpen and bring you back closer to nature than ever," organiser James Stewart said.
The event will offer two routes - 5,5km and 12km.
"As always, we will have our trusty sweeps to make sure that you are not left behind in the forest all night."
Stewart said the longer run would have something new to keep it interesting. "So something new on what is becoming a tried and tested route."
The event is set to start at 18:30 at the Royston Farm in the Crags.
Tickets can be purchased online at https://entrytickets.net/adventurenights. Online entries also include a complimentary wors roll. There will be some extra wors rolls and drinks on sale.
It is compulsory for all participants to bring along a head torch and a cellphone with airtime.
Runners will once again have the opportunity to test their skills as darkness falls over Plettenberg Bay during the MTO Twilight Trail Run on 18 February.
