This magnificent facility, situated on 17 hectares of prime property in the rural suburb of Welbedacht, was first dreamed of 10 years ago by the Oakhill Board and Executive. Today, the OSC stands proud with its first phase complete, comprising a state-of-the-art water-based Astroturf, as well as rugby, soccer, cricket and netball fields.
The opening ceremony paid tribute to all who played a part in making the OSC a reality, from the dreamers and the planners, to the donors, the doers and the parents. The planning of the second phase of the OSC is already underway and will include a swimming and water polo pool, as well as tennis and netball courts and a state-of-the-art indoor facility with a gymnasium and indoor cricket nets.
John Lennon said: “A dream you dream alone is only a dream. A dream you dream together is reality.” There is no doubt that the reality of the Oakhill Sports Campus is borne on the dreams of the entire community. Oakhill looks forward to celebrating and sharing this asset with the Knysna community.
