GARDEN ROUTE NEWS - Experience the thrill of the Karoo’s wide-open spaces and the beauty of Ladismith as the 2025 7Weekspoort MTB & Trail Run Challenge returns at the end of September.
Whether you’re a seasoned athlete or a weekend warrior, this exciting event promises adrenaline, endurance, and the charm of a true Karoo adventure.
Set in the picturesque town of Ladismith, Western Cape, the event takes place on Saturday 27 September at Karoo62Escapes along the R62. Sponsored by Ladismith Cheese and hosted by Chain Gang Events, this much-loved community event welcomes cyclists and runners from across the province and beyond.
The challenge offers something for everyone:
• MTB distances: 29km, 43km (e-bike friendly), and the demanding 85km route
• Trail Run distances: 10km and 21km
This year, new trails have been added to spice up the courses and give athletes fresh challenges.
E-bikes are permitted on the 43?km MTB route but not on the 85?km race—athletes must indicate e-bike use during registration.
Beyond the races, the event promises a full weekend of endurance, fun, and Karoo countryside joy.
Locals come out in force to cheer participants, creating an energetic and welcoming atmosphere. After the races, the excitement continues with the Karoo Rocks Music Festival, headlined by local legends including Francois van Coke.
