SEDGEFIELD NEWS - Smuts United continued their strong form over the weekend in the Safa Eden Regional Men's League, securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Oriented Birds in Sedgefield.
The Smutsville-based side delivered an impressive perfor-mance at home using their pace on the wings to stretch the visitors' defence in a fast-paced encounter.
Despite resistance from the Birds' backline, Smuts United maintained pressure and capitalised on their chances to secure maximum points.
The win formed part of a successful weekend for the hosts, who later defeated Bitou Young Pirates 3-1, collecting six points from two home fixtures.
Smuts United are currently pushing for a top-five position on the log, having recorded six wins, two draws and five defeats from 13 matches, scoring 31 goals to earn 20 points.
Oriented Birds remain second on the standings with 26 points from 14 games.
