KNYSNA NEWS - Red Eagles Football Club from Knysna secured third place in the Oyster Fest KFLA soccer tournament after edging out Sedgefield’s Young Boys FC 4-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw at full time.
Both teams showed great determination, having been knocked out in the semi-finals.
The Red Eagles dominated early play with quick passes and a corner kick, but the Young Boys' defence held firm.
The first half ended goalless despite both teams fighting for chances.
Young Boys FC struck first in the second half when Nkosomzi Mfene converted a penalty following a foul in the box.
However, the Red Eagles equalized in the dying minutes after attacking down the wings.
In the shoot-out, Red Eagles held their nerve to seal the win.
Sinako ladies take the title
In the women's final, Sinako FC beat Southern Stars United 1-0, thanks to a goal from Madimpo Kalani, crowning them champions of the tournament.
