PLETTENBERG BAY NEWS - Newly formed football club Plett FC recently had the privilege of hosting and being coached by veteran South African coach and manager, Gavin Hunt.
Hunt, who is currently the SuperSport United head coach, visited Plett FC for a training session on Sunday 12 February at the Plett Central Sport Field. The experienced mentor and coach shared some wise and encouraging words with the Plett FC players.
He has been a coach for some 28 years, having started his career in 1995 at Seven Stars. He has also been awarded 13 individual and club accolades during his lengthy career that has seen him manage and/or coach eight different South African football clubs.
Prior to Hunt's Plett visit, SuperSport United already had an established connection with the coastal town, having developed two talented young soccer stars from Plett, Athenkosi Dlala and Sibusiso Maziko.
There is also the factor that Hunt himself is a board member at Plett FC, along with his former Hellenic FC teammate and founder of Kick Off magazine, Michael Allen.
In addition there is hope to further grow SuperSport United and Plett FC's relationship, as next month Plett FC is set to face a team from SuperSport United at Kwanokuthula Stadium.
According to Byron Shrosbree, operations manager at Plett FC, they are on the right track with good things to come in their projects that many kids from Plett are enjoying.
Plett FC currently takes part in the Plett Local Football Association's club structures, and offers its players job opportunities to become coaches in varying capacities throughout its grassroot and junior ranks.
